Probably, because of our busy lifestyle, some important aspects of life that should not be ignored have suffered neglect. Don’t allow work or a busy schedule rob you of those activities that actually have a way of making you happier and fulfilled.
Here are 10 Must-Dos you shouldn’t allow to slip out of your life:
1. Visit places
All our daily duties and routines can make our life monotonous. We may forget those times when we were kids and everything was new and interesting, everything was an adventure. In order to be happy we should nurture that little kid inside of us, and once in a while treat ourselves to some trip to new destinations.
2. Visualise your goals
It’s easy to lose the big picture when you’re immersed in detailed executions. It’s also easy to miss out the details executions when you’re grasping the big picture. Switching between macro and micro activities is necessary, yet also clouds your mind. Visualizing long, middle and short term goals gives you clarity and help you focus on the essential things.
3. Set time out for your hobbies
You should definitely find yourself a hobby that you enjoy, some activity that you’re good at. Try photography, writing, dancing, etc. A right hobby for you will prevent you from being sad because you won’t have much time for feeling bad. Proving yourself good at this hobby of yours will also boost your confidence.
We all know how important this is, but few people do it consistently. Other than health benefits too numerous to mention, exercise makes you smarter, happier, improves sleep, increases libido and makes you feel better about your body. A Harvard study that has tracked a group of men for more than 70 years identified it as one of the secrets to a good life.
5. Spend time with family and friend
This has been identified this as one of the biggest sources of happiness in our lives. Relationships are worth more than you think, and loneliness can lead to heart attack, stroke and diabetes. The longest lived people on the planet all place a strong emphasis on social engagement and good relationships are more important to a long life than even exercise. Friends are key to improving your life.
6. Express gratitude
Do you give thanks for the little you have, or constantly grumble and not content. Express gratitude daily. It will make you happier, improve your relationships, make you a better person and can make life better for everyone around you.
7. Get enough sleep
You can’t cheat yourself on sleep and not have it affect you. Being tired actually makes it harder to be happy. Lack of sleep = more likely to get sick. “Sleeping on it” does improve decision making. Lack of sleep can make you more likely to behave unethically. Naps are great too. They increase alertness and performance on the job, enhance learning ability and purge negative emotions while enhancing positive ones.
8. Challenge yourself
Challenging your beliefs strengthens your mind. One of such can be learning another language. Increasing willpower just takes a little effort each day and it’s more responsible for your success than IQ. Not getting an education or taking advantage of opportunities are two of the things people look back on their lives and regret the most.
The benefits of humour are innumerable. People who use humour to cope with stress have better immune systems, reduced risk of heart attack and stroke, and live longer. Laughter should be like a daily vitamin. Just reminiscing about funny moments can improve your relationship.
10. Breathe in and out
When there is something bothering us, we tend to over-think it. We focus more on the problem itself than on finding the solution or we have a panic attack if our first attempt fails. The best trick is to just stop doing whatever it is you’re doing at the moment, close your eyes and take a couple of deep breaths, trying to concentrate only on your breathing. This simple exercise should remove the focus of your attention from the problem to your breathing, so that your thoughts could have a break.
Have you considered any of these? We think it’s about time!
