It’s a good thing to have a job, and it’s also great to have a baby. But when you have to perform both roles, and you never made previous plans on how to go about it, then it can be really challenging.
But it’s no big deal, there are mothers in the work place who are effortlessly combining their role at work and as mothers.
Here are 4 great ways to handle a demanding job and a baby:
1. Find quality child care service
You can go for the option of hiring a nanny who’ll care for your child till you arrive home, or go for an easily accessible child care centre where you can pick your child at a specific time that’s fine with your company’s arrangement. This way, you’re focusing on your job and your child is being well taken care of.
2. Manage your time
Whether your job or your baby comes first, both stand to benefit if you can improve your time management skills. This includes becoming more efficient and productive on the job so you can get home on time. Be less of a worker bee and more of a queen bee: delegate, become choosier about how you spend your time. There is no longer the endless work day where you can stay late to catch up.
3. Stay connected
While at work, you may feel left out of your child’s day. Reach out to the nanny or childcare centre to let know how things are going. Even as your child get older, you can continue this practice of staying connected, and at this stage, you can talk to him/her directly.
