Have you been doing all you can to get more sales at your online store? If your end-goal is steady, year-round profit, then you’re gong to have to do more than just send out a tweet here and there.
It’s going to take constant work and promotion if you want regular customers, and part of that is going to be a willingness to try new tactics, some that might even be out of your comfort zone.
Here are some sure-fire ways to drive visitors to your store:
Offer deals on a regular basis
Most online marketplaces will give you the option to hold sales and/or use promo codes to help entice shoppers. Be sure to do this on a regular basis.
From taking advantage of holiday shopping (get 15% off for Father’s Day, 31% off for Independence Day, 50% off of select items on Black Friday, etc.) to simply offering great deals for no reason at all, this will help ensure you have regular web traffic.
Use affiliate networks
Affiliate marketing is when you let other people market your products in return for a percentage of sales that you generate as a result of their efforts.
A blogger, for example, would then post this URL on their website with an accompanying article about your company. When a customer clicks on that URL, they’ll be taken to your website and, if they make a purchase, the affiliate tracking software will attribute that sale to the blogger.
Don’t ignore paid advertising
Paid advertising is not always the first option for new businesses as it requires cash. But, if you have the funds, it can be a great way to generate sales.
Paid advertising can include promoting your posts/pages on social media, and pay per click advertising/Google adword. If you plan on running your own campaigns, it would be advisable to spend plenty of time researching best practice and familiarising yourself with the keyword bidding process.
Take advantage of social media
If you do it right, social media can have a big impact on your sales figures. The aim of the game is getting your customers to be your brand advocates – promoting your company for you.
While using social media, don’t forget to create a social media startegy, get involved in conversations, especiall trending topics. You should also reward your followers by giving something out in exchange for them posting, sharing or ‘liking’ something.
Remind customers to shop with email marketing
Email marketing is the most powerful tool in your marketing arsenal. If you’re not using it effectively, you’re missing out on sales.
Sending out weekly newsletters that highlight your products with great images and persuasive, yet succinct, content that links directly to each product for easy purchasing.
Blogging can take 3 methods – starting out your own blog, reaching out to popular bloggers about your products and guest blogging. A blog is more than a great way to establish yourself as a leader in your industry, it’s also an indirect way to help promote your online shop.
When you reach out to bloggers that are in the same niche as your online store, tell them why you feel your product would be a good fit for a review on their blog. Provide a sample of your product for free, and if you can afford it, offer to provide another sample for a giveaway. Or you can take the next angle, which is writing on their blogs.
