FG To Generate $16,4B Through Asset Sales
The Federal Government plans to generate as much as $16.4 billion through asset sales in the next four years to reduce the burden on the public budget, a Budget Ministry document showed. According to the document obtained by Bloomberg, the sales will help to tackle inefficiencies and stem “corruption in public enterprises,” which outlines the West African nation’s plans for economic recovery from 2017 to 2020. However, it didn’t name the assets it may sell.
Angola Overtakes Nigeria As Africa’s Top Oil Producer
Despite recording the biggest increase in output among its peers in the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Nigeria has again lost its Africa’s top oil producer status to Angola after it regained it in November last year. For nine months in 2016, Nigeria lagged behind its southern African counterpart in oil production on the back of the resurgence of militant attacks on oil facilities in the Niger Delta.
SEC Responds To Fraud claims
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) at the weekend responded to claims that investors in the Nigerian capital market were defrauded by asset managers at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). In a statement released on SEC’s website recently, the Commission promised to do everything within its reach to ensure investors and their investment are well protected.
Ogoni Clean-up Will Cost $1B – Osinbajo
In continuation of a series of interactive engagements with leaders in oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta region in Port Harcourt Rivers State the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo revealed that the Ogoni Clean-Up project flagged off in 2016 will cost $1billion and the funds will be provided by Shell Petroleum Development Company. Integrity Crucial To Anti-Corruption Crusade – New Auditor-General
The newly appointed Auditor-General for the Federation, Anthony Mkpe Ayine, has charged management and staff to uphold integrity at all times, saying this is key in the Federal Government’s anti-corruption crusade. NIMASA Reiterates Commitment To Building Maritime University

Wike Enjoins Board To Increase Revenue
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has charged the state’s Board of Internal Revenue Service, to create a tax friendly environment in the state with the aim of improving internally generated revenue for more developmental projects in the state. The Governor also urged the chairman and members of the Board to avoid distractions by alleged political blackmail and other forms of pressure in the discharge of their duties.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday revealed it was unaware of a proposed international exhibition match against human traffic, insurgency and terrorism, which would feature Barcelona star, Lionel Messi, current world’s best footballer, Christiano Ronaldo, Argentina legend, Diego Maradona, Nigeria’s former captains, Austin Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo and other notable former international stars.
