How about you try something different from a tomato stew? This is one traditional recipe every Brazilian grew up eating. The goodness of this recipe is the infusion of yoghurt and mushroom. Whipping this up will definitely have your family asking for more!
Wash and chop the beef and set aside. Dice the onions and chop the parsley and set them aside. If the mushrooms are not sliced, slice them and also set them aside.
Mix the flour, pepper, garlic and ½ teaspoon of salt in a bowl and add the beef. Mix thoroughly with hands until every piece of the beef is coated with the seasoned flour.
Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium -high heat. Add the mushroom and cook until golden. Add the seasoned beef and cook until barely brown then stir in the onions and cook until slightly golden.
Add the stock and scrape off any bits stuck to the pan with a spoon. Reduce the heat to medium-low and allow to simmer.
Add the soy sauce, tomato paste and ½ tablespoon Dijon mustard. stir and cook for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the yoghurt, until well combined.
Serve over rice and garnish with parsley (optional).
