If you are tired of your regular sides and would love something different, why not try out this mashed potato recipe. It is creamy, filling and goes with a variety of main dishes. Oh the fluffy goodness…I particularly love mine with gravy. Yum!
Peel and cut the potatoes into chunks. Cover with enough water in a big saucepan, add in ¾ teaspoon salt and bring to boil for about 20 minutes or until potatoes break apart very easily.
Drain the water out of the pot. Heat up for a few minutes to get rid of remaining water. Using a potato masher, wooden spoon or an alternative, mash until there are no lumps. Pour in the butter, remaining salt and black pepper (optional) and stir until well incorporated.
Add in the milk at intervals, stirring with a wooden spoon as you go along. Do this until you get the consistency you desire.
Serve warm with gravy or as part of main dish of choice.
