If it were easy to land your dream job, we would all jump out of bed in the morning and be raking in more than Bill Gates—but life’s not exactly like that, is it? You shouldn’t stress though, because everyone complains about their job. Which proves one thing – landing the perfect gig won’t necessarily make you happy, so why quit?
Some jobs can take a toll on your physical or mental health, but otherwise, here’s why you shouldn’t quit yet.
You don’t have a plan B
Here’s the thing – with the recession on us, except you’ve gotten a better offer, it may take you longer than expected to find something else. Yes, and you could end up with a job you dislike even more—or that pulls you off the vision you’ve been working toward—just to pay the bills. Have you figured out how to save enough money to live on until you get another job?
Out there, the pay isn’t exactly better
Be really honest with yourself: Can you manage a frugal lifestyle if the next job is with a lower salary? If short-term (or long-term) adjustments would make you feel like you’re being taken advantage of, then, we’d say don’t quit your current job yet.
“Following Your Dreams” doesn’t have to be right now
We are not not ruling out the fact that you want to “Do What You Love”, we’re simply saying: maybe not now. Not before you’ve made your mark. Not before you’ve achieved some learning and experience on the current job.
