Introversion is one of the most misunderstood concepts, with most people assuming that introverts are either too depressed, boring, anti-social or shy to be happy.
The simple truth is, unlike extroverts, introverts feel most alive and are at their creative best when alone. The difference is in how these two kinds of people respond to simulation. Neither is good or bad. Just different.
I’ve been an introvert for as long as I can recall. Even though many people might not get it, I actually do enjoy life and live it to the fullest.
If you are anything like me, then this list of how I enjoy life will interest you.
1. Reading books
I love how books help me experience the beauty, intrigues, pain, and love of another world. I really do not have a genre-preference – I do adventure, fiction, biography, self-help, motivation, classic, religion, business, technology, etc. My taste for knowledge is quite insatiable.
2. Writing
Writing is one of my favourite past times and one of the reasons I started to run my blog – . I have written so many short stories and my dream is to rival the amazing works of my favourite writers – Chimamanda Adichie, Mark Twain, Elechi Amadi, Maya Angelou, etc.
3. Giving
Giving of my time, energy and money are really important to me. Nothing makes me happier than helping to lift someone, whether they are friends, family, colleagues or random people. Everyone goes through tough phases at some point and it is always great to have someone understand this.
5. Taking walks
I live in a busy city and so I don’t get to do this anymore. However, walking alone to the bus stop every 5AM to catch a bus has somewhat substituted for that. It is pure joy when you can feel heaven and get inspired my the quietness of dawn.
6. Browsing the Internet
Like I stated earlier, I am a knowledge buff. And going online is one way I learn new things. You’d most likely find me on YouTube, Future Channel, Quora, Brain Pickings, Daily Digest Nigeria, Quartz, Intelligent Life, etc. If you are a fellow introvert (and anyone else), these websites are worth the try!
7. Photography
This, of course, is on an amateurish level but I love selfies. I love the thrill of seeing all I am reflected in a picture – my beauty, flaws and everything in between.
8. Travelling
Having experienced a really bad accident, I am not one to jump at the idea of exploring new places every weekend. However, I do love to travel. And as they say, it’s the fastest way to learn.
9. Art
Though, I do try my hands on sketches now and then, I am not really great at them. But I know and love good art when I see one. Art touches a part of me in amazing ways I can’t describe.
10. Movies and Documentaries
I haven’t had the opportunity to see a play at a theatre. But good movies/shows/documentaries on TV or my laptop can have me glued to my bed all day, even if they are as old as 20 years!
11. Family and friends
I have few friends and my family is so far away but I look forward to spending time with them. And why not? These people get me -they really do.
